BHAYANDAR: A street-dweller in Bhayandar, Sushil Ramdulare Singh, 23, was so enraged when a stranger denied him Rs 10 to buy alcohol, that he murdered him. The deceased is yet to be identified by police. Sushil was arrested within twelve hours of the murder.
According to Navghar Police, the incident occurred near Hotel Vijay Punjab on B P Road, Bhayandar (E) around 10.45pm on Monday. A native of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, Sushil lived on the pavement near the vegetable market and did odd jobs for a livelihood. He allegedly demanded Rs10 from the man, said to be in his early 20s. Irked by his refusal, Sushil picked up a quarrel with him and the heated exchange of words took a violent turn when Sushil slit the victim’s stomach with a sharp-edged iron hook, killing him on the spot.
On the basis of eyewitness accounts and images captured by CCTV cameras, a team from the Navghar police station managed to ascertain the identity of the killer and arrested him within 12 hours. “While the accused has been booked under section 302 of the IPC, efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the victim,” confirmed Assistant SP Atul Kulkarni.
