Haryana Chief Secretary DS Dhesi has directed the officers concerned to effectively implement the ‘Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana’ during the ensuing crop season so that farmers could get maximum benefit.

Presiding over a review meeting of the Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana here, he said that the scheme was launched from Ganger in Karnal district on December 30, 2017.

The main aim of this scheme is to make farming risk-free. The State Government would make good the difference, if and when the prices in the market go below the fixed prices. Under the first phase of the scheme, prices have been fixed for tomato, onion, potato and cauliflower, he said.

The compensation at the rate of Rs 400 per quintal would be given for tomato and potato. Haryana is the first state where the State Government has fixed prices of vegetables to safeguard the interests of farmers, he added.

Under the scheme, farmers are expected to get themselves registered through e-portal. The government would pay compensation only to registered farmers in case the prices of vegetables and fruits fall and slip below those fixed by the government.

It was informed that the compensation amount would be credited to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of farmers within 15 days of the sale of crops.
