Police on Tuesday took arrested high-profile burglar Sanjay Kumar Nishank on a four-day remand for interrogation. Sanjay is alleged to have looted jewelleries and valuables worth Rs 60 lakh from different houses and showrooms in the city.

Nishank, a resident of Atri village under the Khordha police station, would be interrogated to find out his connection in other cases of loot and the modus operandi he used to execute the crimes. He was arrested on July 26 following charges of multiple loots, sources said.

The Chandrasekharpur police had seized 778 gm gold, 796 gm silver jewellery, six laptops, 43 mobiles, 29 watches, LED TVs, digital cameras, tablets and wallets after arresting him. Passports, debit and credit cards, Aadhaar cards, computer hard disks, calculators, guitars and music systems were also seized from his possession.

Sources said Nishank used to put on a helmet of a particular brand while committing the crimes. Several cases are pending against him at different police stations, informed police sources.

A few days ago, police got some clues on his whereabouts by tracking a mobile phone he had stolen and succeeded in zeroing on him.
