We have reached the eighth month of the year and like every month, we saw several exciting gadget launches this month as well, including flagship and budget smartphones, wearable devices and more. Apple new MacBook Pro: Latest MacBooks with 8th-generation Intel Core processors; price starts at Rs 1,49,900

Apple announced its 2018 lineup of MacBooks with two screen sizes -- 13-inch and 15-inch sizes available at a starting price of Rs 1,49,900 and Rs 1,99,900 respectively. The new MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar feature 8th-generation Intel Core processors, with up to 6-core on the 15-inch model and quad-core on the 13-inch. Additional updates include support for up to 32GB of memory, a True Tone display and an improved third-generation keyboard for quieter typing.

JioPhone 2: JioPhone’s successor; has introductory price of Rs 2,999

At its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM), Reliance announced the next-generation version of its JioPhone, called JioPhone 2. The JioPhone 2 will be available at an introductory price of Rs 2,999 starting this Independence Day (August 15). It comes with a QWERTY keypad with a dedicated button for the voice assistant. Backed by a 2000mAh battery, it has a 2MP rear camera along with VGA front camera. In terms of connectivity, it includes 4G VoLTE, FM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS support.

Oppo Find X: Sports pop-up camera; costs Rs 59,990

Priced at Rs 59,990, the Oppo Find X comes with a 93.8% body ratio thanks to the slider camera module. It also skips the fingerprint scanner and comes with a 3D facial recognition sensor. The camera setup includes dual rear cameras of 16MP primary and 20MP secondary module and a 25MP selfie camera and comes with beautification mode and 3D emoji support. In other specs, it offers a 6.4-inch OLED HD+ display with resolution of 1080x2340 pixels with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM along with Android Oreo-based interface.

Vivo Nex: Retractable front-facing camera setup, in-display fingerprint scanner; priced at Rs 44,990

Vivo's latest flagship smartphone, Vivo Nex sports a virtually bezel-less 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display without a notch. This is because it packs a retractable front-facing camera setup that has an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. At the back, there is a 12MP+5MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and f/2.4 aperture. It runs on FunTouch OS v4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and supports dual-SIM card (Nano+Nano). Priced at Rs 44,990, the smartphone is backed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, complemented by an 8GB RAM and Adreno 630 GPU.

Sony launched the Xperia XZ2 at Rs 72,990 making it the most-expensive Sony smartphone in the country. It sports a 5.7-inch full HD + TRILUMINOS screen display with 1080x2160 resolution with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, the smartphone offers 6GB RAM paired with 64GB internal storage. The storage can be further expanded upto 400GB through a micro-SD support. It offers a 19MP motion eye rear camera with 1/ 2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor and 25mm wide Sony G lens and a 5MP front camera for selfies with 5-axis stabilization and 3D selfie capturing.

Samsung Gear IconX earbuds: Apple Airpod rival; cost Rs 13,990

Priced at Rs 13,990, the wireless earpods from Samsung offer standalone music playback and 4GB of built-in storage that is said to allow users to listen to music without being connected to the phone. This music can be added wirelessly or from the phone or PC using a USB cable. It comes preloaded with five preset equalizers such as Bass Boost, Soft, Dynamic, Clear and Treble Boost. Gear IconX comes with fast-charging and a claimed battery life of up to five hours of music streaming or seven hours of standalone music playback.

Asus Zenfone 5Z: Cheapest smartphone to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 at a starting price of Rs 29,999

The Asus Zenfone 5Z sports a 6.2-inch full HD+ (1080x2246 pixels) resolution Super IPS+ display with 90% screen to body ratio and 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and comes in 6GB RAM+64GB storage variant that costs Rs 29,999, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage that costs Rs 32,999 and an 8GB RAM + 256GB storage models can be purchased at Rs 36,999. Running Android 8.0 Oreo-based ZenUI 5.0, the handset has a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 1.4um pixel size, along with an 8MP secondary camera with 120-degree wide angle lens. Both are supported by AI-based scene recognition. At the front there is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree field of view.

BlackBerry KEY2: Company’s latest phone with QWERTY keypad; costs Rs 42,990

Priced at Rs 42,990, the BlackBerry KEY 2 offers the traditional QWERTY keyboard, placed underneath the 4.5-inch display with 1080x1620 pixel resolution. This display of the device is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The backlit keyboard allows users to customise each key to launch various apps and is said to respond to touch gestures and support flick typing. Other specs of the handset include an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 6GB of RAM with 64GB/128GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 2TB by adding a microSD card. There is a 12MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, dual tone LED flash and a wide angle less, whereas the secondary 12MP sensor comes with f/2.6 aperture. The front is home to an 8MP camera for selfies.

Huawei Nova 3, Nova 3i: Feature dual cameras at both front and back; price starts at Rs 20,990

Both the Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i offer dual cameras at front and back. The Nova 3, that costs Rs 34,999, has a 24-megapixel and 2 mega-pixel with F/2.0 aperture and fixed focal length support on the front and a dual rear cameras featuring 24-megapixel primary sensor with F/1.8 aperture and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor with the F/1.8 aperture.

The Nova 3i has the same front camera as the Nova 3 -- 24-megapixel and 2 mega-pixel with F/2.0 aperture and fixed focal length support. On the back, there is dual rear camera setup features 16-megapixel primary sensor with F/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with the F/2.2 aperture. It costs Rs 20,990.

Honor 9N: Hottest rival to Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro at a starting price of Rs 11,999

Available in two variants, the Honor 9N is priced at Rs 11,999 and Rs 13,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. In terms of specs, it offers a 5.84-inch full HD+ display with 1080x2280 pixel resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio.Running Android 8.0 Oreo operating system, the device is powered by the company's own octa-core Kirin 659 processor. For camera, it offers dual rear camera setup comprising of 13MP primary and 2MP secondary shooter accompanied with LED flash. On the front, it offers a 16MP camera.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1: Asus's stock Android smartphone with 6GB RAM, costs Rs 14,999

The handset is the latest variant of Asus's first smartphone to come with stock Android. Running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system the company has not incorporated any customisation layer on top. Priced at Rs 14,999, the handset also has improvements in terms of camera as well. The new model features a 16-megapixel (f2/.0) primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.0).

Samsung Galaxy On6: Company’s latest budget smartphone at Rs 14,990

The Samsung Galaxy On6 is priced at Rs 14,490. It comes with a 5.6-inch HD+ Infinity Edge display with the aspect ratio of 18:5:9. The display is made scratch resistant with a coating of Corning Gorilla glass.In the camera department the smartphone offers a 13MP rear shooter with LED flash. Garmin India launched its latest smartwatch in India at Rs 39,990. This device is equipped with a 24/7 heart rate monitoring system, advanced running dynamics and performance monitoring tools. The Forerunner 645 Music is said to come with an on-device music storage upto 500 songs. The device can also be used with compatible Bluetooth headphones. The smartwatch can be customized using free watch faces, widgets, data fields and apps through the Garmin Connect IQ store.

FiiO M7 music player, priced at Rs 19,990

The FiiO M7 music player comes in a fully aluminum body and an all-glass front. This music player is available in three colours -- Black, Silver and Red. The M7 is priced at Rs 19,990. It features a 3.2-inch 480x800 display with image zooming support and a gesture system to get around different menus. The M7 comes with 2GB of built-in storage and can support up to a single 512GB micro SD card. Backed by an 1180mAh battery, which the company claims will give users a playtime of 20 hours or more, or a standby time up to 40 days.

Dyson Pure Cool air purifier, price starts at Rs 36,900

Dyson claims that the recently launched air purifiers use intelligent sensors to auto-detect and display pollutants such as PM 2.5, PM 10, VOCs and NO2 in the home. The machine has a LCD display that shows the pollutants that are in the air before removing them. It also uses a 360-degree sealed filter system that makes use of a tris-coated activated carbon filter and a Glass HEPA filter to capture microscopic particles and pollutants.The Pure Cool air purifier comes in tower and desk styles priced at Rs 43,900 and Rs 36,900.
