The Central Board of Secondary Education declared the result of National Eligibility Test 2018 or UGC NET in a record time of three weeks this year.

The exam was conducted on July 8 and the results were declared on July 31 to facilitate quick employment of the eligible candidates.

Here are the highlights of UGC NET 2018 exam:

There were 11,48,236 candidates who registered for the exam this year, the highest in the history of UGC NET.

The commission said 8,59,498 candidates took the exam and 55,872 qualified for assistant professor’s post and 3,929 cleared both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and assistant professorship.

This year, the board divided the exam into two papers instead of three as done earlier.

The board also tried to make the exam system transparent by displaying the OMR sheets images for verification by candidates.

For the accuracy of results, the board displayed the answer key ahead of the result and invited students to raise objections to the answer key.

According to the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) policy, 6% of the candidates who appeared in both the papers and obtained minimum qualifying mark in the aggregate have been declared NET qualified.

The board conducts the exam on the behalf of UGC to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of assistant professor in Indian universities and colleges as well as for JRF.
