NEW DELHI: Markets opened flat on Wednesday but managed to scale another milestone, with
Sensex breaching the 37,700-mark in early trading.
The 30-share BSE index opened with a decent gain of 40 points at 37,643.87. In morning session, the index went up to as much as 37,711.87, a fresh all-time high. At 10 am, Sensex had flattened a bit and was trading at 37,665.
The broader 50-share NSE
Nifty too was in the green and inching towards the 11, 400-mark.
The Street would be closely watching the decision taken by monetary policy committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on key policy rates, later in the day.
On Wednesday morning, metal, PSU Bank and FMCG sub-indices were gaining more than half a per cent each.
