Vadodara: A traffic policeman would have gone soft on the city’s deputy mayor’s car driving on the wrong side, but not people on the street commuting in the direction opposite to the car for no fault of theirs. Irate scenes were witnessed when this happened on the Vadsar-GIDC Road in the city late on Friday evening.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) deputy mayor Jivraj Chauhan was going to an event when his car was stopped by some men on the Vadsar-GIDC Road. The men were peeved at the fact that his car was commuting on the wrong side of the road.

The mob asked difficult questions to Chauhan about the act. Chauhan defended himself saying that it was a mistake by the driver of the car. The people did not buy the argument saying that he should not have allowed this since he was sitting in the car.

Chauhan even apologised and said that he would take action against the driver, but the mob did not relent. Eventually, the Manjalpur police was called to disperse the mob.

Chauhan said that the driver had spotted a turn at the last moment and slowed down suddenly. “Some people were annoyed at this and a mob gathered. There was a traffic jam after this and we had to go on the wrong side after police intervened,” he said. tnn
