AMBALA: Haryana health minister Anil Vij had advocated several times that the cow should be declared as the national animal. Now, the Ambala city’s member of legislative assembly (MLA), Aseem Goyal has said a cow should be treated as national heritage or national property, instead of treating it as animal. MLA Goyal has advocated that the status of the cow in Hindu religion is of a mother, therefore it cannot be treated or considered as an animal.

MLA Goyal added that the Haryana government has started working towards betterment of the condition of the cows in the state. “The earlier government had totally ignored and disrespected them. The works for the betterment of cows will take time, and will require participation of the general public.” The MLA said the government is ready to support those who come forward to take initiatives towards the betterment of establishments to take care of the cows.

About the recent incident of cows dying after grazing on poisonous crops at an illegal gaushala in Jaitpura village, MLA Goyal said, action has been taken against the operators of the cowshed. “The village land, which was illegally captured, has also been freed and given to the villagers. The remaining cows from the Jaitpura cowshed have been shifted to another pound in Sullar village safely.
