ONGC tops in Swachhta Pakhwada

The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), has received top honours at Swachhta Pakhwada Awards. The award was given away by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas secretary MM Kutty to the ONGC chairman and managing director Shashi Shanker in presence of the top officials of energy industry and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas among others. On receiving the first prize, the ONGC CMD said,"Our constant endeavour is to align our activities in line with the Government's Swachhta mission.”

“This award,” he added “will strengthen our commitment and resolve to dedicate ourselves more and more to accomplish the Swacchhta mission, envisioned by the Prime Minister,” he said.

Swachhta Pakhwada Rankings is an initiative of MoPNG carried out by an inter-disciplinary committee under the chair of ED-PCRA with representatives from Economics and Statistics Division, MoPNG and Centre for High Technology.

Speaking on the occasion, Kutty, congratulated the Oil PSUs for taking the message of cleanliness across the country. While mentioning that Oil PSUs have effectively leveraged their capacity to make the Swachhta Pakhwada a success, he pointed out that Swachhta is a habit that must be nurtured through all walks of life.

During the Swachhta Pakhwada fortnight, observed from July 1 to 15, ONGC launched construction projects for 4282 units of household, school and community toilets in more than 45 villages across the country.

ONGC has also embarked upon, among others, awareness campaigns on menstrual hygiene, creating clean drinking water facilities using solar power and water ATMs, E-waste processing, clean Himalaya campaign and organic waste disposal among others.
