K. Anvar Sadath, vice chairman and executive director of the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), has won the International Contributions Award given by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), USA.
The KITE, which was formerly known as IT@School Project, said that Mr. Sadath was the first Indian to bag the award. AECT international division coordinator Hsin-Te (Chuck) Yeh said that Mr. Sadath was chosen for the award recognising his contribution to the field of educational communication and technology in an international setting.
Mr. Sadath has been leading the KITE (formerly IT@School Project) for several years and was instrumental in implementing a Hitech School project aimed at converting 45,000 classrooms of classes 8 to 12 into high-tech, empowering all teachers to handle the classes using the portal Samagra.
Mr. Sadath was also instrumental in remodeling the SchoolWiki project connecting 15,000 schools across the State. He had headed the Akshaya project, e-Krishi and several other IT-related projects which made a mark in the State.
Mr. Sadath was a recipient of the Science Literature Award (2005) given by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), and Dr. C.P. Menon Memorial Award (2012).
The AECT is a premier professional association for instructional design and educational technology. Hsin-Tzu Chen from Chinese Culture University, Taiwan, received its International Contributions Award in 2017.
Mr. Sadath will receive the award at a function to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 26.
