Gujarat Govt to hold I-Day celebration at Surendranagar

Keeping the tradition of holding State level Independence Day function at district places rather than at the capital Gandhinagar, the Vijay Rupani Government in Gujarat has decided to organise the 15th August celebration in Surendranagar this year.

It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who initiated the tradition to celebrate three important occasions — Republic Day, Independence Day and Gujarat Day at district places instead of Gandhinagar when he was Gujarat Chief Minister. First such celebration was held at May 1, 2005 at Surat to mark Gujarat Day.

In view of the State-level celebration, entire Surrendranagar town would be decorated with colourful lights and would be cleaned. Most of the Government and iconic buildings of the district would be renovated. CM Rupani will also dedicate plethora of development works valuing hundreds of crores across the district.
