Video streaming major Netflix has partnered Sony to introduce a new 'Netflix Calibrated Mode' that brings studio quality picture mastering to Sony's new Master television series.

The company said the feature was developed by Sony's picture quality and device experts in collaboration with Netflix color scientists and will be exclusive to Sony’s new Bravia Master Series A9F OLED and Z9F LED television models that debuted yesterday.

"Our members can view TV shows, films, and documentaries on Netflix as they were meant to be seen, with precise colors, accurate dynamic contrast, and true motion with a simple menu setting" said Scott Mirer, Vice President, Device Partner Ecosystem at Netflix.

"This feature leverages Sony’s strength in image processing to provide a display mode that configures the TV the same way creators calibrate their monitors in post production" he added.

Netflix has been doubling down on its television experience with viewers watching more and more content on connected televisions either through smart TVs or media streaming devices like Apple TV, Chromecasts and game consoles among others across the world including India.

The company claimed that the viewing hours for 4K and HDR content has been growing significantly, and around one-third of Smart TVs that use Netflix support HDR right now.
