RRB Recruitment 2018: Important notice on examination centres; details inside

The recruitment test for 26 thousand posts of RRB Group C of Railways is on 9th August. These recruitment examinations will be done on the posts of Group C ‘s Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician. The Railway Recruitment Board recently issued a notification as to why the candidates who have applied for RRB ALP Exam 2018 have been allotted centres outside their states.

Many applicants of Bihar had to go to Hyderabad to take the examination, while many candidates of Buxar were allotted to go to Chennai and Patna to get the Bangalore examination. Many of the candidates have not been able to get railway tickets to reach the examination center so far.

In a letter by Tejashwi Yadav addressed to the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, copies of which were shared with the media, Yadav alleged “aspirants from Bihar have been allotted centres at places like Mohali, Chennai and Bengaluru.”

“This would require the candidates to travel a distance of 1,000 kilometres or more for appearing in the tests beginning on August 09”, Yadav said and demanded that the tests be rescheduled keeping in view the interests of the aspirants “else we will be compelled to hit the streets and launch an agitation”.

The notification goes on to read that 40 lakh candidates have been allotted examination centres within 500 km which means about 6 lakh candidates have been allocated centres 200-500 kms away from their states.

After the massive outrage by the candidates on social media, the Ministry of Railway issued a statement on the issue. Now, more than 71 percent of the candidates have been allocated exam centers in 200 km radius from their cities.

The examination centres and halls will be well-equipped with security features like CCTV cameras etc.
