Fanney Khan will release this Friday.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to stay the release of upcoming Bollywood film, Fanney Khan. Film producer Vashu Bhagnani had moved to the apex court against the film’s release over the movie’s distribution rights earlier this week. The film will now release as scheduled on August 3.

Bhagnani had claimed in his plea that his company, Pooja Entertainment & Films Ltd, owns exclusive rights to distribute, exhibit and exploit the commercial and non-commercial theatrical rights for Fanney Khan in India, as per a deal with film’s co-producer in December last year.

He said he had paid Rs 10 crore for the rights but the deal was not honoured. He had earlier filed two separate petitions in the Delhi and Bombay High Courts and on July 19. Delhi High Court had not ruled in Bhagnani’s favour.

Fanney Khan will see Anil Kapoor playing the role of an orchestra singer who worships Mohammad Rafi and Shammi Kapoor as his gods and sings their songs. The one of its kind musical comedy revolves around a father, played by Anil Kapoor, who wishes to fulfil his daughter’s dream of becoming a singer.

Helmed by Atul Manjrekar, the film also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao.
