A crucial meeting of State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) under chairmanship of party's In-charge for Chhattisgarh and Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh Ashok Siddharth was held here at its State office situated at Rajendra Nagar on Tuesday.

State President of the organization, Om Prakash Bachpayi while talking to The Pioneer said the main focus of the meeting was to strengthen the organization.

Bachpayi, however, declined to comment on the possibility of BSP’s alliance with other political parties.

However, not ruling out the possibility of an alliance with Congress party or former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi’s outfit Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J), Bachpayi said “we focussed in the meeting on strengthening the organization only and no discussion on possibility of alliance with other political parties was held”.

“At present we are prepared to contest in all the 90 Assembly seats; however, a final decision regarding the alliance with other political parties is under the purview of party Supremo”, Mayawati, he said.

Bachpayi further informed that the meeting also discussed the panel of contenders for the upcoming polls and soon the list of candidates will be declared in the month of August.

“The meeting also discussed in detail about the ‘winnable’ seats and about the contenders for Assembly segments in the State”, he added.
