2019 VW T-Cross Small SUV Reveals More Of Its Design In Latest Spy Shots

VW has started testing prototypes of the upcoming T-Cross with significantly less camouflage on them, giving us a proper look on the boxy lines of the new small SUV.

Set to make its debut in October, the VW T-Cross test car pictured here tries to disguise itself in places as the bigger T-Roc, including the cladding on the bumpers and lights all around. According to official sketches, the final production version will feature square-shaped taillights connected with a light bar across the rear end.

The T-Cross will be VW’s fourth SUV in its European range and the most affordable of the lot, as it will slot beneath the existing T-Roc.

According to the company, the new VW baby SUV will be 4,107mm-long and 1,558mm-tall, which means it’s slightly larger than the Polo supermini. The two models are based on the same MQB A0 platform, with VW claiming that the T-Cross will offer a spacious interior and a class-leading luggage space of up to 455 liters.

Set to go against models like the Nissan Juke and the Renault Captur, the new VW T-Cross will be offered with three petrol and one diesel engine options. The first two petrol models will be powered by the company’s 1.0-liter TSI unit with 95PS and 115PS, while the third one will use the 1.5-liter TSI with 150PS. The single diesel TDI model will come with 95PS.

Transmission options will include both manual and dual-clutch automatic gearboxes. All models will be offered with front-wheel drive only.

VW will reveal the final production version of the T-Cross this October, with sales set to begin in Europe in spring of 2019.
