29,600 write Matric compartment exam

PATNA: Altogether 29,600 Matric students took the compartment exam conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) at 311 centres across the state, including 16 in Patna, on Wednesday.

In the first sitting (9.30am to 12.45pm), at least 18,202 students appeared for the Hindi paper, 6,120 for Urdu, 935 for Maithili and 13 for Bangla. In the second sitting (2pm to 4.45pm), altogether 4,330 students wrote the social science compartment exam.

‘Sawan Queen’: Richa won the ‘Sawan Queen’ title at a Shrawan Mahotsav organized by the Rotary Club of Patna at Tender Hearts International School on Wednesday.

Priya and Rashmi Tiwari were declared the first and second runners-up, respectively. Isha Singh bagged a prize for the best mehendi design while the consolation prize was given to Richa and Rinki.

School founder Premlata Bhargava was also present on the occasion.

Death anniv: Dr D Y Patil Pushapalata Patil International School students remembered late Pushapalata Patil, wife of former governor D Y Patil, on her death anniversary on Wednesday.

While school chairman Prem Ranjan Kumar, director Dr C B Singh and principal Radhika K offered floral tributes to Pushpalata’s statue, students presented a prayer song and a play on her life.

Radhika K told the students about the values and principles of Pushapalata Patil and asked them to help the poor to make the society a better place.
