Members of the Jharsuguda Press Club condemned the act of burning an effigy of a mediaperson by some notorious miscreants and submitted a memorandum to district Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Patnaik and SP Aswini Mohanty demanding immediate action against the culprits.

In a meeting held on Monday, the members held a discussion about the failure of the district administration to control such acts by some anti-socials.

The journalists expressed concern over free movement of the miscreants in the streets creating a sense of terror in the minds of general public. They alleged that the hooligans are also collecting tips from companies in the MCL area and are involved in theft of coal and diesel from coalmines engaging dreaded criminals.

However, the SP has assured immediate action shortly against the criminals. Among others, club president Santosh Mishra and members Raj Kumar Sharma, TL Tiwari, Prashant Mohanty, Prabharanjan Mishra, JK Mohapatra, Prashant Mishra, Subhash Pradhan and Subhash Sahare were present.
