When it comes to growth in the passenger traffic at airports, Vijayawada and Tirupati are among the top 20, competing with the bigger facilities in the country.
29th position for Vizag
As per the statistics released by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which was uploaded onto the Twitter handle of the Visakhapatnam airport, while the Vijayawada airport stood at the 19th position, the Tirupati airport was ranked 20. Visakhapatnam stood at the 29 position.
In June this year, the total passenger traffic at the Vijayawada airport was 1,01,821 against the previous year’s 52,926, which showed a growth of 92.4%.
The Tirupati airport recorded a traffic of 69,165 compared to 42,242 the previous year, registering a growth of 63.7%.
The authorities said the Visakhapatnam airport also registered a growth of 10.2%.
The passenger footfalls at the Visakhapatnam airport had risen from 2,08,976 in June 2017 to 2,30,265 this year.
