Vadodara: Habitual traffic offenders, who often cross swords with the cops, will face tough action now. Their misbehaviour will be captured on the cameras placed in the traffic policemen’s pockets.
The police department has given small cameras to about a dozen traffic cops and once turned on, all the activity at their spots will be recorded with proper audio.
“Some offenders argue with the traffic cops and refuse to pay the fine or even flee. The cameras fitted on the uniform will capture images of those fleeing without paying fines along with license plate number of their vehicles. Images of those arguing with the cops too will be recorded,” a senior official said.
The camera also has disk to store images that can later be downloaded in computer. “If people see that their activities are being recorded live, they will behave and cooperate during checking,” the official said.
