Khuzwayo: Sea Robbers want 2nd star

2018-08-01 09:31

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo says the club are hungry to win the CAF Champions League for just the second time since their maiden title in 1995.

Khuzwayo, who left Kaizer Chiefs to join the Sea Robbers ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, takes the view that the squad that has been assembled is ready to compete in all competitions.

Bucs last competed in Africa's most prestigious club competition in 2013 where they advanced to the final but lost out to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Speaking to Kickoff, the 28-year-old said: "I think this is the perfect time for me to be in this team. It's a big institution.

"We want to conquer Africa, we want to get the second star. That is the priority.

"We also want to win the league. I believe with the quality players we have we have that chance.

"I am excited for the new challenges. I am here to learn and I believe it is the right time."

The Bafana Bafana international added of the side's recent pre-season tour to Zambia: "I am familiar with travelling to Africa. It was more of a learning curve for players who have never been to Africa.

"It was a good and I can see the guys are working hard to continue where they left off last season."
