Assam NRC draft: Fiery exchange in Parliament

The issue of publication of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam witnessed heated arguments in Parliament on Tuesday. Opposition parties cornered the government in Rajya Sabha over the possibility of nearly 40 lakh people losing their Indian identity. On Monday, Home minister Rajnath Singh had clarified that this was just the first draft and people will have multiple options for redressal. Parties like TMC, SP and AIADMK demanded that the government should make its stand clear on the subject.
