Man beats his wife for taking pictures with her cousin

AHMEDABAD: Sabarmati police on Wednesday lodged an FIR against a 22-year-old man for allegedly beating his 19-year-old wife, after he saw pictures of her with cousin.

According to the complainant, she married Nitin Thakor, a resident of Sabarmati on April 27. “Initially, the behaviour of my husband and in-laws was good towards me but gradually they started taunting me for little mistakes. My mother-in-law continually taunted me saying I was not perfect for her son. My husband also started harassing me mentally and torturing me for no reason,” the complainant, who has studied till class X, alleged. “My paternal aunt’s son, Prem, sent some pictures of me along with him to my husband’s number. On seeing these pictures of me with my cousin, my husband got angry and started asking me if I have had a relationship with Prem. My husband then beat me severely and my in-laws also thrashed me. I had to be hospitalized because of the beating,” added the complainant.

After she was discharged from hospital on Wednesday, she filed an FIR for domestic violence against her husband and in-laws with Sabarmati police station.
