Cabinet boost to GAIL gas pipeline

Gagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra gas pipeline of the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) got a major boost on Tuesday with the State Cabinet allocating land for building intermediate pigging station. The station would come up at Chas of Bokaro.

Total 0.90 acre of land at the cost of Rs 33.13 lakh have been allotted to the Maharatna company with 30 years of lease renewal option. “The land would be used for setting up section lining valve cum intermediate pigging station for the pipeline being built under the Urja Ganga project by the public sector undertaking of the Government of India,” said Cabinet Secretary SKG Rahate informing about the decision.

This apart, four degree colleges that were to setup in such Assembly constituencies where no such college exists, would get Rs 15,76,99,600 each. The Cabinet approved sanctioning total Rs 63,07,98,400 for the four degree colleges for the financial year 2018-19.

A proposal of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs got Cabinet’s nod for organising ‘Lok Manthan-2018’. “The programme would be organised between September 27 to September 30 this year under the sense of ‘nation first’. Thinkers and ideologues with Indian culture deeply rooted into them would come and deliberate over the idea focusing on existing issues before the nation,” said the official. Previous ‘Lok Manthan’ was organised in 2016 at Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh.

Also, the Cabinet decided to replace the presently distributed double fortified salt with iodized salt through PDS to priority households and Antyodaya families like before. Salt would be sold through all PDS shops at the rate of Rs 1 per kg per household.

In order to improve milk production and breed of the animals the Government would strengthen existing 1440 artificial insemination centers and also set up 1,560 new centers across the State. The centers would be operated for five years by interested parties selected through bidding process on cent per cent aid from the Government.
