RSPCA seeks clues on terrified and traumatised dog brought to vets
The RSPCA is investigating after a terrified, traumatised and starving pointer crossbreed dog, less than two years old, was brought into the U-Vet Werribee Animal Hospital.
Vets believed that the dog had been starved and neglected for a long period of time given
the severity of its illness and injuries, which included trauma to the head and pressure
sores around his body.
The debilitated state of the dog led vets to the difficult decision to humanely euthanise
it in order to prevent further suffering.
“This dog was terrified, starving and appeared to have experienced extensive trauma
before he was brought in,” said RSPCA Victoria Inspectorate team leader, Karen
Collier.
The RSPCA said that the man who admitted the dog to the hospital was of Maori
appearance and drove a white van, and that the dog was found in Point Cook.
The organisation is appealing to speak to him regarding their investigation.
“This man may have further information that could assist us with our investigation," Ms Collier said. "We are appealing to him to get in contact with us immediately."
Anyone with information about the incident, or who has other concerns regarding
animal welfare, is being urged to contact RSPCA Victoria on 9224 2222 or at
