A car plunged into the swollen Kadalundipuzha at Panakkad on Tuesday. The driver, Shameer Ali, escaped with minor injuries before the car drowned.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel fished out the Maruti Ritz car with the help of local people after a search that lasted for two hours.
The police said the car careened off the road at a sharp curve when the driver reportedly fell asleep.
