Dharwad: The district and sessions court on Wednesday sentenced seven youths to
life imprisonment for murdering a real estate agent in 2015. Judge Siddappa Hosamani also a slapped Rs 55,000 fine on each of the convicts.
Ashok Shibargatti, Manjunath Shibargatti of Dhumwad village in Kalghatagi taluk, Veeresh Sawkar of C B Nagar, Prakash Bennale of Brahmachaitanya Nagar, Sagar Salunke of Kuppasawad village, Ningesh Olekar of Bhavikatti plot in
Dharwad and Raju Desai of Kyarakoppa village killed Sachin Nikkam of Santosh Nagar in Dharwad near Vinayaknagar, Kelgeri Road, on November 15, 2015, in the city.
Ashok and Manjunath had borrowed money from Santosh. When they failed to return the amount, Santosh started pressurizing for the money.
The duo hatched a plan to eliminate him with the assistance of five other accused. They called Sachin to a place near Vinayaknagar on the pretext of talking about repaying the money. They attacked him with lethal weapons and left the body near a drain at Kelgeri Road. Morning walkers spotted the body and alerted police.
The
public prosecutor in the case was Shaila Angadi.
