Bundle of notes falls at her feet, from nowhere!

Not only for a cloud-cutting flags or sky-facing chariots on the roll along the Bada Danda, nevertheless, it is the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri which always gets a lip service for a lot of astounding incidents also.

The pious tout the temple to be a hot spot of all wonders and mysteries and give credit to the Trinity only. Here is an example that must be hitting every heart and a reply of it would ultimately be ‘a windfall from Lords towards an empty paw,’ nothing more than that.

While stretching a paw towards the go-getter for a small coin as part of daily routine in the premises, a woman beggar found a bundle of currencies fallen suddenly from the main structure at about 3.30 pm on Tuesday.

Though the name and address of the woman beggar is yet to be ascertained and so is the value of currencies, however, she was at her 60s, who lifted the currency notes bundle from the floor and left out of shrine.

She was begging nearby the Khirachora Gopinath Temple towards west corner within the inner boundary of the Jagannath Temple, when the notes bundle fell near her from the main structure.

It is said to be an act of a monkey, who used to snatch away money from the pilgrims almost on a daily basis inside the premises.

The monkey perhaps threw the notes from the temple after picking from some devotee during a visit.

According to an onlooker, the bundle consists of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 currencies tied with a rubber string. The total sum would be nearly Rs  20,000, speculated the onlooker.

He wanted not be named on the paper fearing a quiz from the police and temple officials once his name got out.

Hailed from the city, he said while leaving the temple through the west gate, he saw the aged woman with the bunch of notes and advised her to leave the place. The woman used to beg in the temple for past many years, but he does not know her name and particular address in the town, he said.

“As I saw her with currencies of higher denominations, I advised her to leave the temple immediately as there was a khaki-clad staring at her with his dubious eyes,” said the witness to The Pioneer at the west gate of the temple.
