Six fatally run over by car in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: Six people died on the spot and three others suffered injuries when a speeding car ran over them at the Iyer Hospital bus stand in Sundarapuram here on Wednesday.
Five of the deceased have been identified as Amsaveni, 38, Narayanan,70, Sri Rangadas,69, Subhasini, 18, Kuppathal,70. Police were yet to identify another deceased woman.

Somasundaram,55, who suffered serious injuries, was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

The car belonging to a private college was driven by P Jagadeesan, 36. Police said the accident had happened after Jagadeesan had slept at the wheels for a few seconds due to tiredness.

The car rammed an autorickshaw before coming to a halt.
