NIA seizes fake currency notes of Rs 1.92 lakh face value in WB

The (NIA) seized Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of face value of Rs 1.92 lakh from the possession of a 32-year-old man in West Bengal's district, the probe agency said today.

Acting on information, an NIA team laid a trap in the periphery of a hotel in Farakka town of the district yesterday, an NIA said.

Around 6 pm, the accused, Abdul Rahim, was intercepted by team at a footpath near the hotel. When he was frisked by NIA officials, they found fake Indian currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination in his pocket, he said.

It is suspected that the fake notes were printed and smuggled from across the border, he said.

The seized FICN has a have value of Rs 1.92 lakh, the said.

An FIR was registered at the station against Rahim, a resident of district, and others under IPC section 489B (Using as genuine, forged or counterfeit currency-notes or bank-notes), among others, the said.
