Indore: As per 2021 master plan, city should have green belt of 5,000 square feet. However, 1 percent of this target has been achieved. This was revealed at the review meeting of smart city development project held at AICSTL office on Monday.
The meeting was attended by officials and public representatives who gave suggestions on improving city’s facilities. Mayor Malini Gaud said green belt will be developed in the city while illegal colonies will be regularised. Municipal commissioner Ashish Singh made the presentation on execution and development plans at the meeting.
Commissioner Singh said efforts should be made to make Indore as world’s best city. He said city has done well in terms of cleanliness, door-to-door garbage collection and concrete residual management. Singh said IDA has completed MR-1, MR-4, MR-6, MR-7, MR-8, MR-9, MR-10, Ring Road and Bypass Road. The work of MR-11 and MR-12 is underway. IDA has so far made 10 rail overbridges, two bridges in the city.

IDA chairman Shankar Lalwani said development work on 3,000 hectares of land has been completed by IDA. The development work on remaining 2,000 hectares will be completed after state government’s approval. It includes construction of MR-3, MR-5, and Western Ring Road. He said special attention is being given on developing green belt, sports stadium, metro rail facility, public transport.
At the meeting, the joint director of TNCPD Rajesh Nagal said 90 villages will have to be included in planning area by 2021. So far, 29 villages have been added. The total ??investment area is 50525 hectares. Development Plan-2021 was prepared on the basis of 35.66 lakh population by 2021.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Mahendra Hardia, Rajesh Sonkar, Manoj Patel, Sudarshan Gupta, Usha Thakur, Ramesh Mandola, collector Nishant Warwade among others.
40% master plan executed
Ex-deputy IDA planner Basant Marathe said only 40% provisions of Master Plan have been executed. He said such a meeting was held after gap of eight years.
