Vijay Pingale, private secretary to Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, has quit the IAS. July 31 is his last working day. He is likely to work for the developmental sector. Pingale, working in the Deputy Secretary rank, when reached for a confirmation, however, said that his resignation is yet to be formally accepted, and that he cannot comment beyond that.
The Tamil Nadu cadre officer was in the news some time ago when, as a Joint Commissioner of Chennai, he had named and shamed the contractors for a badly laid-out road in Chennai. During the Chennai floods, there was even an online petition to bring back Pingale.
This is incidentally the second senior-level exit from the Ministry. A few weeks ago, another aide of Prabhu – his OSD -- taken from the private sector, had quit his job.
