Turmeric arrivals, prices up

The arrival of turmeric to the spot markets at Erode increased. On Tuesday, the arrivalsincreased to 2,000 bags; but only few bags were of good quality and the rest were of medium quality, said Krishnamurthy, a trader. The price of finger variety increased by ₹600 a quintal at the Regulated Marketing Committee and ₹300 at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. Similarly, the price of root variety gained ₹400 at the Regulated Marketing Committee. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, the finger turmeric went for ₹6,759-7,846 and the root variety for ₹6,629-7,499. All the 234 bags on offer were sold.
