CHANDIGARH: A Class XII student with his six friends smashed the window panes of 16 cars in sectors 37 and 40 recently to take revenge against his economics teacher for scolding him for remaining absent for three days, police said on Monday.

Police arrested the seven accused, which included five minors. Six of them are residents of Sector 41 and the other stays in Sector 56. Five of them study in the same school. All of them are students of Class XII.

Police said the main accused, a student of a government school, was angry ever since his teacher had rebuked him in the class. He decided to avenge the “insult” by smashing the window panes of his teacher’s car. On July 26 night, he called his six friends to his place for a night-out. They sat on the rooftop of the house and had a couple of beers, police said. The main accused convinced the others to join him.
