police have arrested three people, including a couple, for possessing ganja. They seized 11.3kg of
ganja from the trio.
On Monday evening, acting on a tip-off, a team from the Cantonment police station, led by sub-inspector Ramesh, rushed to RC School entrance on the Bharathiyar Road and searched a man, identified as S Selvam, 35, of Kuppankulam. The police seized ganja weighing 5.2kg from him.
The Cantonment police got information about a man selling ganja near Seva Sangam school on the Williams Road. A team led by sub-inspector Thangamani visited the spot and found 3.6kg of ganja in the possession of M Rajesh, 25, of Keezhapanjappur. Rajesh was Selvam’s accomplice.
Sessions court police sub-inspector Fathima went to Periya Milagurparai and found 2.5kg of ganja in the possession of Selvam’s wife S Nagarathinam.
The trio were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
