Cape Town - Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada, is set to play his 50th ODI for South Africa when they face Sri Lanka in the second match of a five match series in Dambulla on Wednesday.

Rabada made his debut against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2015, a match in which he famously took a hat-trick and recorded figures of 6/16 in eight overs.

And the South African speedster's impressive performances have continued in the three years that have followed. 

Since his debut, Rabada has taken the most wickets in ODI cricket for the Proteas, topping the leaderboard ahead of leg-spinner Imran Tahir.

Rabada has 79 wickets at a strike rate of 31.3 while Tahir has claimed 69 wickets at a strike rate of 35.3. 

They are followed by Wayne Parnell (29 wickets), Chris Morris (29) and Andile Phehlukwayo (26).

Rabada was in outstanding form in the first ODI, helping the Proteas dismiss Sri Lanka for 193 by taking 4/41 in 8 overs.
