3 labourers killed in gas leak in Kanpur

KANPUR: Three labourers working at a factory suffocated to death due to leak of a poisonous gas in an attempt to save the lives of their two colleagues, who sustained injuries, on Monday in Unnao. The injured labourers were rushed to Unnao’s district hospital for treatment.
The incident took place under Kotwali. Police said that one of the labourers fell unconscious when he went to repair the nozzle of a 20-feet tank where ‘tirpals’ are dyed.

“In a bid to save his colleague, another labourer stepped down, but he too fell unconscious. The third labourer too went down to rescue both his colleagues with the help of others and successfully brought his both the unconcious men out. Unfortunately, due to some poisonous gas they had died before being taken out,” said Circle Officer, Swatantra Kumar. The bodies have been sent for autopsy.
