WhatsApp voice and video group calling rolls out to all Android and iOS users

NEW DELHI: Social networking giant Facebook announced at its annual developer conference F8 that the popular instant messenger WhatsApp will soon get group calling feature. Today, the company has announced that it has started rolling out the group calling feature for both voice and video calls globally.
In an official blog post the company said, “Over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp. In fact, our users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day. We're excited to announce that group calls for voice and video are coming to WhatsApp starting today.”
The feature allows users to make calls with up to 4 users at a time. Users just need to start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new "add participant" button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call.
The company also claims that group calls are end-to-end encrypted and are designed to work on different networks. The feature is available for both Android and iOS users.
In order to make a group call, users just need to follow simple steps. In order to start a one-on-one voice or video call, users first need to tap of the new “add participant” button placed on the top right corner and then app participants to it.
The company said that during the group voice call users will not have to switch the voice call to a video call. Moreover, during a video call users will have an option to turn off the camera by clicking on the camera icon. Along with this, users will also have the option to remove a contact during a voice or video call.
Recently, it was reported that iPhone app for WhatsApp have been updated and now it enables users to to send WhatsApp group messages directly by speaking to Siri.
