GHAZIABAD: A local court on Tuesday sentenced 11 persons, including a former member of Loni Palika Parishad, to five years in jail for attacking a police team in 2015. In the attack, a sub-inspector and a constable were grievously injured.
According to the additional district government counsel (ADGC) Rajeev Kumar Gurjar, Parishad member Mukesh Pal had given false information about a clash between members of two communities in Loni border on September 26, 2015. Later, police had arrested two persons Amit and Bobby from the same community and brought them to police station. Subsequently, when police tried to remove the blockade, the mob led by Pal attacked police and also damaged the vehicles passing through the area. In the stone pelting, the then chowki in-charge of Indrapuri, Balram Yadav and constable Lalit had received injuries.”

The case was being heard at the court of additional district and session judge Mahfooz Ali. The judge had held the accused guilty of the crime on Saturday while fixed Tuesday for pronouncing the judgement. The judge had observed that their action was an attack on the system.
