The directed the officers to make arrangements regarding law and order, medical facility, availability of water and toilets, besides ensuring smooth traffic while deciding the routes for the pilgrims, known as kanwarias, an official release said.

A meeting was also held with the officers of Uttarakhand and and several decisions were taken to ensure its smooth completion, said Muhammad Akil, additional of police (law and order).

The ADGP said he would review the arrangements with the station house officers and deputy superintendents of police of their respective areas.

Additional police force will be made available in the districts. All deputy commissioners and superintendents of police have been asked to ensure installation of boards at significant places to guide the kanwarias, Akil said,

In view of the yatra, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat are sensitive districts as the number of kanwars there remains high. Similarly, the districts of Rohtak, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and are sensitive from the standpoint of law and order, he said.

Officers of these districts have been asked to remain alert and take special steps for the safety of female kanwarias, he added.
