Vadodara: A case of criminal breach of trust was registered against the chairman and two directors of Savli-based Kavit Industries at Bhadarva police station on Monday as the company had allegedly siphoned off provident fund amount of 44 workers.
The complaint against the company’s chairman Jayesh Thakkar and two directors Bhavesh Desai and Chirag Thakkar was lodged by Hariharan Aiyer, an official of Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), after irregularities were found during inspection.

Police said that the EPFO had received complaint on the basis of which Aiyer was directed to conduct inspection in the company. He told the police in his statement that on July 18, he had asked Desai to send all provident fund (PF) records of the company to EPFO’s office. But when the records were not sent, the officials conducted an inspection at the company’s premises in Tundav village of Savli taluka on July 20.

Desai then told Aiyer that the records are at company’s Sayajigunj office and assured to send them by July 25. When the records were finally submitted on July 27, it came to light that the company had deducted PF money from 44 workers’ salary since April last year which was amounting to Rs 58,990. However, the company did not deposit that amount and its own share of Rs 64,643 with EPFO.

According to the company’s website, it is involved in manufacturing of industrial oil and edible oil.
