CM Chouhan to lay foundation of Rs 2208 crore irrigation project today

Bhopal : July , 2018 : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will lay the foundation of a lower and Major Lift Irrigation Project worth Rs 2208.03 crore in Pichhore of Shivpuri district on July 30. As many as 343 villages of Shivpuri and Datia district will have access to better irrigation facility through this project. Water Resources Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra gave this information while inspecting the project site today. Additional Chief Secretary R. S. Julaniya was also present on the occasion.

Giving information about the project, the Minister of Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Narottam Mishra said that the total water intake capacity of the project will be 371.80 metric cubic meter and the water-intensive area will be 1843 sq. km. This project is situated 25 km from the dam site Khaniadhan and 20 km away from Chanderi. He told that the total length of the dam would be 2070 meters and the highest level would be 383 meters. There will be a total of 7 gates in the dam. Construction of dam will cover 2690 hectares of 12 villages in the submerged area. This will displace one thousand families, whose arrangements for rehabilitation have been ensured in the nearby villages.

Water Resources Minister Dr. Mishra informed that the irrigated area has been divided into two portions to provide irrigation facility through the project. About 60 thousand 400 hectare area is proposed through lift irrigation. He informed that in the remaining 50 thousand hectare area irrigation facility will be provided from an underground pipeline. Dr. Mishra informed that the project has a provision of 19.44 MW power generation.
