Vadodara: The police are yet to make any arrests in connection with the history-sheeter’s mob lynching incident in Kali Mahudi village of Jhalod taluka in Dahod district on Saturday night. Ajmel Vahoniya (22) was an accused in a series of cases including a double murder.
Vahoniya and his accomplice Bharu Palas (24), both named in a series of offences, had come out of Dahod jail on July 24 after getting bail in a theft case. Both were beaten up by a mob on Saturday night during which Vahoniya died.

Palas claimed that when they were on the way to Jhalod town on Vahoniya’s bike a group of 15-20 people stopped them near Kali Mahudi. When villagers inquired, the duo said they were from Khajuria village and going towards Jhalod. The group started beating them with sticks suspecting that they had come there to steal or burgle a house. When they tried to run, more people surrounded them and bashed them up brutally.

Limdi police sub-inspector Pravin Kumar Judal said that the villagers were not willing to talk about the incident. “They are not willing to give us any statement. We are relying on cellular phone data and trying to ascertain if someone had recorded or clicked the incident on phone,” he said.
