PM Modi speaks to Imran Khan, congratulates him for victory in Pakistan polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Imran Khan, chairperson of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party and congratulated him and his party for emerging as the largest political party in the recently conducted general elections.

In a telephonic conversation, Prime Minister expressed hope that democracy will take deeper roots in Pakistan. He also reiterated his vision of peace and development in the entire neighbourhood.

Earlier in the day, the PTI chief announced that he will take oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 11.

Khan's party won 116 seats in the 272-seat National Assembly.
