Parts of State to get rainfall till August 2

Pune: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in Konkan and Goa and some parts of central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha till August 2. With the recent lull in rainfall, Pune city has received 323.6 millimetre rainfall for the season, as compared to the normal expected rainfall of 303.9 millimetre.

From June 1 to July 25, the entire country has reported three per cent deficient rainfall as compared to the Long Period Average (LPA). Northwest region has reported seven per cent deficient rainfall in the season so far. 
However, central India has reported 16 per cent excess rainfall followed by nine per cent excess rainfall in the south peninsular region. Eastern and Northeastern region has reported 31 per cent deficient rainfall.

On Sunday, not many parts of the State experienced rainfall. IMD has stated that the southwest monsoon has subdued over central Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada.

In Pune city, a drop in rainfall activity is seen. IMD has predicted a rise in day temperature up to 30 degrees Celsius. One or two spells of rainfall have been forecast till August 2. However, no major rainfall is being predicted by the IMD.

The southwest monsoon has been active over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Uttarakhand. It has been subdued over Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, madhya Maharashtra, 
Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka.

IMD has further predicted heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places are very likely over Assam and Meghalaya Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh and east Uttar Pradesh till August 2.
