A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, along with an FSL team, reached Malasar in Churu district on Monday to recreate the scene of gangster Anandpal Singh’s encounter.

A senior police official, on the condition of anonymity, said, “To cross-examine the report submitted by the Special Operations Group (SOG), the scene of the real shoot-out will be recreated at the same time in front of forensic experts and the CBI team.”

Gangster Ananpal Singh was killed in an encounter with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan police at Malasar in Churu on June 24, 2017.

“Many officers from SOG, Haryana and Rajasthan police, who took part in the encounter, were also present at the spot,” the police official said.

Meanwhile, a few days back around 59 policemen, who were present at the spot, were asked to be present in Malasar village, Churu, to help the CBI team recreate the scene.

After Anandpal’s encounter, his family had demanded a CBI probe, claiming that he had wanted to surrender but was killed by the cops. The Rajput community was angered by the encounter and demanded a CBI inquiry. They organised a condolence meeting in Anandpal’s village, Sanvarad in Nagaur district, which turned violent after the crowd gathered there pelted stones at the police injuring several policemen.

Later, the state government wrote to the CBI to probe the encounter. In December 2017, the investigating agency accepted the government’s request for a CBI probe into the encounter.
