MRI unit inaugurated at B’swar DHH

The first Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit in north Odisha has become operational from Sunday in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here following its inauguration. The unit was inaugurated local MP RK Jena.

District Collector Ramesh Chandra Rout, CDMO Vivekananda Das, Principal, Government Medical College and Hospital Pratap Chandra Rath, MLA Sadar and Remuna JP Dash and Gobind Das, ZP president, Nivedita Mohanty and Municipality Chairman Alok Sahu were among others present.

"The patients of North Baleswar no longer need to run Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for the specific test, which was not only time consuming also making holes in the pocket. The poor patients from rural inaccessible pockets were the worst sufferers. The delay in treatment and diagnosis is mitigated to a large extent. The unit is in fact a boon for the people,” opined MP Jena.

The unit was established under the PPP mode under Nidaan scheme and the company that signed the MOU is Add Annex Healthcare Private Limited.

Manager of the company Chinmaya Chiranjeevi Bal said the unit would remain open for 24 hours for the patients referred by the Government doctors and the service would be provided free of cost.

The unit in Baleswar is second one after Angul under the company and it is the first MRI unit of north Baleswar in Government hospital, he said.
