COIMBATORE: The cybercrime cell of the city police has sought Interpol's help for freezing the bank accounts of conwoman Shruthi, who is currently under investigation for cheating several youths of huge sums by promising to marry them.

Shruthi has two accounts in TSB Bank in the United Kingdom, police sources said. "She had opened the accounts last year. Her mother Chitra had transferred 10 lakh and 13 lakh in two instalments to the accounts. Shruthi had got the money from some youths by promising to marry them. We have contacted Interpol through crime branch-CID to retrieve the amount," cybercrime inspector Mallika said.

The conwoman had also deposited 10 lakh in the bank account of the University of Glasgow in Scotland to pursue an undergraduate course. Police have also approached the university to collect more information about the woman.

Shruthi, who is out on conditional bail, had recently alleged that some investigating officers had sexually harassed her. However, police department said that the charged were intended to scuttle the case. Police are planning to chargesheet Shurthi, who is facing two cases in cybercrime cell and one in the city crime branch.

Police had arrested Shruthi, her mother Chitra, her brother Subash and Prasanna Venkatesh, who posed as her father, in January for cheating a software engineer of 41.14 lakh.
