Appeals after man run over in road rage incident, boy assaulted

Police are calling for witnesses to a road rage incident in which a man was run over and seriously injured, and an assault on a 12-year-old boy.

The incidents, which happened separately, both occurred on Thursday.

ACT Policing said at about 11am, the drivers of a small blue car and a truck were involved in an incident near Canberra Hospital.

The male truck driver then got out of his vehicle at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Tyagarah Street in O'Malley, where the car driver allegedly drove at him and hit him, causing serious injuries.

That afternoon, about 3.15pm, a 12-year-old boy was walking along a pathway connecting Salsola Street and Darwinia Terrace in Rivett when he was assaulted by a man.

Police said the man was described as Caucasian, about 170 centimetres tall and of medium build, with a medium-length orange beard.

He was wearing black sunglasses, a black hooded jumper with the hood up, black tracksuit pants, red socks and black Nike shoes.

The man was last seen running in the direction of Darwinia Terrace.

Police urged anyone with information on either incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
