CM vows to put CCTV cameras in place sans nod

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that CCTV cameras would be installed in the national Capital at any cost, asserting that no licence is required for its installation and this he will mention on the file related to CCTV on Monday on behalf of common people. He said that in democracy public is supreme hence no permission of any kind is required as people themselves want cameras to be installed.

Speaking at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Sunday, he said that CCTV cameras will keep a check on illegal activities and will help in  reducing the crime significantly against women in Delhi. 

Kejriwal said that the place of installation of CCTVs would be decided collectively by resident welfare association, police and the company installing the cameras and no license is required for the same. He also said that the anti- social elements of the society would deter from committing crimes when they will be under CCTV watch.

Women were present in quite large number to attend the conversation and dialogue regarding installation of CCTV, which Kejriwal inferred as women concern regarding their safety.

Targeting Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister said that it is he who created hurdle and roadblocks on the way of Delhi Government for installation of CCTV by forming a committee that recommended that license is required mandotarily for installing cameras. He said that all across Delhi RWAs are worried about the installation of CCTVs and concerned about the safety of the residents and even market asssociations ae worried about the same. But the L-G has created obstacles on the way of CCTV since last three years.

He targeted the BJP saying that the party would extort money in lieu of granting license for installation of cameras through police.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that it is the people who will decide the place of installation of CCTV. Adding that the way in which the Government want to implement the scheme, will reduce the crime rate by 50 per cent.
